Chief Innovation Officer, BanRegio
René Lankenau joined Banregio in 2016 and is currently the bank’s Chief Innovation Officer.
René’s main experience has been in Mexico’s startup scene – first as an entrepreneur himself, and later as an angel investor.
He founded his first company, after a terrible tragedy in Mexico, when a government-sponsored childcare center burned to the ground and claimed the lives of 49 children. Together with his business partner and a group of investors, he started ADVENIO, a company to develop and operate high quality, employee-sponsored childcare centers that would allow women to be more successful in their jobs, knowing their babies where safe, close to them, and learning. ADVENIO is currently the leading private childcare provider for large companies in Mexico and Colombia.
René is an Endeavor Entrepreneur since 2012, a guest speaker at IPADE (one of Mexico’s leading business schools) and was named one on Forbes magazine’s 30 most promising entrepreneurs. He’s also a writer for The Huffington Post Mexico.
He has an MBA from IPADE, as well as a law degree from Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey, and currently lives in Monterrey with his wife and five children.
