The Group operates in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and Asia, and serves over 40 million customers. The Royal Bank of Scotland has been in operation since 1727.

The Program

RBS believes that gender diversity enables better understanding of and responsiveness to a diverse client base. In the UK, the Women in Business program – led by RBS subsidiary NatWest – supports women-led and -owned small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by recognizing that women often benefit from a different type of banking approach and relationship building. The program has trained hundreds of Relationship Managers to specialize in the needs of Women in Business.

One of the key initiatives that has helped to influence and change the RBS Group’s diversity and inclusion strategy is the Focused Women’s Network. Started in 2007, the network has grown to 6,000 members in 31 countries, making it one of the largest women’s networks in the financial services sector. The network is based on a mantra of networking, personal development and giving back to charity, and membership is open to men and women at all levels of seniority.

RBS has been placed in The Times Top 50 Where Women Want to Work list every year since the list’s inception and achieved gold status with Opportunity Now – a gender campaign charity that aims to accelerate change for women in the workplace.
