About Diamond Trust Bank (DTB)
Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) was incorporated in 1946 as a non bank financial institution (NBFI). After years of operating as a NBFI, in 1997, the bank changed its name to Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited and commenced full commercial banking services, offering a range of services targeting principally small and midsized businesses.
DTB is an affiliate of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), the economic development arm of the Aga Khan Development Network.
With 68 branches across East Africa, DTB operates in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Burundi as the Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) Group; offering banking products and services to small and medium size customers. The affiliates in Tanzania, Uganda and Burundi provide DTB with access to growing markets in these East African Community Partner States and the capability to further increase business share in the region.
Focus on Women's Empowerment
As part of its SME Banking program, DTB is keen on increasing its business in the East Africa region with women entrepreneurs. In collaboration with IFC, DTB seeks to train women-owned enterprises in its client portfolio across East Africa in business and financial management to improve access to credit and improve overall business performance.
